Overnight flight from home airport to Rome.
Arrive late-morning or early afternoon at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport. Transfer to hotel. Rooms will be available at 2 p.m., possibly earlier. At 4 p.m., we will meet in the hotel lobby and depart by bus (with local guides) for a “Roma Barocca” guided walk of the Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps. At 7:30 p.m. we’ll return for supper and overnight in Rome. (Modest shorts are okay today.)
Daily buffet breakfast. Depart for Roman Colosseum/Flavian Amphitheater, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. Lunch. Visit the Catacombs.
Morning visit to St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Museum, including Raphael’s Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. Supper, evening worship, and overnight in Rome. (Wear pants/modest skirt. No sleeveless shirts.) St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, Pilate’s Staircase/Scala Sancta, which pilgrims including Martin Luther climbed on their knees as an act of devotion. Evening walk through Trastevere and Jewish Ghetto. After sunset, open supper and free time in Trastevere.
